Green Bird Villa – Ubud
We arrived to the Green Bird Villa with a warm welcome, cold towels and a welcome drink. Our bags were brought through quickly to our Family room and we were WOWd by how impeccably well kept the grounds and pool area are kept. The pictures advertised are what you get. It’s beautiful!
The room was very spacious and clean. Double bed downstairs and two singles upstairs. Powerful shower. Kettle for tea and a mini bar. Extra blankets in the cupboard. Fab!
There was only one mirror in the bathroom though so with three women trying to get ready that got a little tricky at times!
The breakfast was fab. Fresh fruit, juice, banana pancakes or eggs any style. Delicious! We could have it in the room, in the garden or in the restaurant area.
Lunch has a limited offering but we were mainly up and out after breakfast anyway and there are loads of lovely restaurants in Ubud.
They offered us a complimentary car to take us into the centre of Ubud to visit the market area which was only 5min away by car. That was great.
We did a tour of the temples with Bendut who became our personal driver during our stay. That was a great experience as we could visit the temples as quickly as we wanted or take our time. We were not waiting on anyone else. I’ll do a separate post on that tour.
The staff in Green Bird is what sets it apart from other hotels. We felt like VIP’s! We were on a first name basis with so many of the staff. (Wayan, Agus, Donal, Neera, Nophi and Bendut) They were so happy to help us with the smallest of things.
They walked us to our rooms with umbrellas when it rained, booked the car for us when we wanted to go to the centre or Monkey Forest, organised our breakfast where ever we fancied having it that day, sorted out our air con (the remote just needed new batteries) Had pool towels brought out for us when they spotted us in the pool, and gave us advice on the right tour for us.
My sister suffered with a wisdom tooth during our stay and Agus called around the local dentists to secure an appointment for her very early in the morning. We went to the hospital with her the first day she needed medical advice and Agus organised a car for us and Bendut was again our driver. We were gone 2hours with a private car at a very small cost. We had great peace of mind knowing where to go and how to get there. It meant a lot.
During our tour the next day she needed to go back to the dentist as the pain killers were not working and Bendut booked her an appointment over the phone while we were visiting a temple and dropped us to the dentist on the way back to the hotel. He waited 30min for us. When the bill came we were short 50k and Bendut paid the fee for us (We reimbursed him later). Exceptional service.
The staff are the happiest and friendliest people we met in our two week stay in Bali. We will certainly be back to visit them again when we return to Ubud. They made us feel as though we have a home away from home. When we arrived to the next hotel we really missed the VIP service that we got in Green Bird Villa and all those smiling faces so happy to see us. 10/10 all the way!
