Wedding Planning SOS!

Wedding planning can become incredibly overwhelming, very quickly. All of a sudden you are hit with 100 questions that you may never have really thought about!

When? Where? Colour schemes? Invites? What flowers? How many bridesmaids? Flowergirls? THE DRESS???!!!

My advice – Take a breath. Open a bottle of champagne and ENJOY the excitement of taking it one step at a time. You don’t need to decide everything at once. The most important thing, in my opinion, is to decide on what makes sense to you as a couple. What type of day do you want and how can you stamp your identity onto it?

My husband and I are both from Connacht so we quickly agreed to look for our venue within the five counties.

We wanted something a little different so when walked through the doors of Markree Castle in Ballisodare, Co Sligo  we were very impressed.  The reception has a huge open fire, there is a beautiful staircase with a stained glass window and the dining room looks like something out of  ‘Downton Abbey’. It was perfect! It felt like we would be having an elegant house party in a castle which is exactly what happened on the day!

The morning of the wedding was a whirl wind of hair, make up and champagne! I felt like all my Christmases had come at once!

Here are a few pics from our day!

My bridesmaids were my sister and best friend of 11years who were an amazing help and support all year long.

I promised myself that I wouldn’t cry but when my Dad walked in to see me I couldn’t hold back the tears. It was a very special moment.

I really wanted to wear something with a wow factor! I always knew I would go for lace, a mermaid style dress and a cathederal veil which made the shopping easier as I was focused on what I wanted!

I got my dress and veil from Tracy Bridal in Galway.

Dress – Maggie Sottero

Veil – Ronald Joyce

Shoes – Irregular Choice and were really comfy for the entire day!

We had the most amazing day. It was everything we had hoped for and so much more.

I loved planning our wedding so I an hoping to share some tips and advice from my time as a bride to be in the coming months.
